As if the upcoming Obama inauguration could not get any cooler (or is that hotter) comes the news that 80s soul stalwarts Ashford and Simpson are re-covering their 1985 smash “Solid” with revised lyrics as – you guessed it – “Solid as Ba-Rock” (it makes more sense to me if you spell it that way).
Apparently it was in response to some parodies that were supposedly floating around the place – so the duo thought who better to release the new version than themselves, although to be blissfully honest, I could never remember who was Ashford and who was Simpson in my young whipper-snappin 80’s shoulder pad days!
Very looking forward to the new version as I LUURVED the old one – but I am NOT looking to seeing an overenthusiastic, bombastic Oprah wailing how she loves it, while doing some ridiculous couch routine (or whatever she does these days) in support of the song and/or Prez 44.
